If you could have the power to control any one of the four classic elements — Earth, Air, Fire, or Water — which would it be?

Air, because I could control all the other things.

Water.

 

A. Water is more common powerful force than fire - oceans, rivers, lakes, rain. Moreover water can put out the fire.

 

B. Water is more profitable than air. I can control the market price of drinking water

 

C. Much like fire, there's more water than there is earth that we can walk on. Also water can easily ruin earth.

Water seems the most powerful to me.  All life requires it.  For example, you could suck all the water out of someone's cells and kill them instantly.  And that's how I spell F-U-N.

Fire bending.

Why? Cause, lightning. Air cannot put out the lightning, nor water douse it. And earth has it's own problems with fire. Like melting.

Actually, lightning might be something that a water bender could generate.  After all it is produced by clouds.

Well by that logic an air bender could also form lightning, since it comes from the sky. I would say that the water/fire thing would be dependent on the tactical logistics, because fire could easily evaporate water instead of being doused by it.

I don't think your analogy follows, Shokkou.  Lightning is caused by the interactions between ions in the water molecules that make up the cloud.  If one could control water, one could theoretically control these interactions.  I imagine that would be a pretty advanced level of water bending, though!

 

Still, I like water.  Plus I could be an AMAZING surfer.

Air benders control the air. They could use this control to create low or high pressure systems, shifting winds and causing the clouds to move where they want the lightning to strike. Water benders could, of course, also control the water in the air to cause lightning wherever they want. I would say that, if two benders were competing, water bending would likely win out since it is more directly caused by the water than the air.

Nah, Lightning is, in the four elements setup, fire. Cold sky fire. It's difficult to manifest because it's very very different to normal fire, but it's still fire.

Plus they can do it in Avatar, so nyuuuuh.

I wasn't really talking about the Avatar universe, although I used that example.  But yeah, in the classical sense lightning would be fire, but I was talking more the way it would work more "realistically," if such a word can be used for such a ridiculous concept!

 

Of course if you could animate rock and Earth that one would have some appeal too.  Imagine an army of rock golems at your command?  (Not "rock golems" as in golems who like rock music, but rather golems made of rock.)  That would be pretty badass.
