Does anyone else think this anti-bullying hysteria has gotten out of hand? Sometimes it's more specifically referred to as "cyber-bullying." I mean, yes, I know some troubled kids have taken their own lives. Those are terrible tragedies. But suicidal people will be suicidal anyway. Lots of us were bullied as kids and we managed to survive. I just think it's ridiculous.

But maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. After all, nothing changes the behavior of teenagers like legislation. Hey, I just had a brilliant idea! Why don't we outlaw cutting class, surly attitudes and mouthing off to your parents too?

I've been bullied my whole life, Well it just stopped due to me losing my temper and completely beating the shit out of the bully, anyways being German for some reasons means Im a nazi to everyone. I've dealed with it and got over it i don't see the big fuss.

My best friend is a German, literally, and it always bothered me that one of his more common nicknames was "Tim the Nazi", granted that wasn't ENTIRELY because he was German... but still...

I can see where you're coming from. And I'm sorry that the stigma of the Nazi's is still born by the many Germans, due to ignorance and insensitivity. :-/

Also, bully's suck. They should be beaten repeatedly with a stick. That's my official stand, and I'd like to enact that policy into law. Bully's are to be beaten with sticks repeatedly on sight.

I think the kids of today are pussies.

I am an immigrant and grew up in one of the worst ghettos of NYC, possibly the country for the first 4 years I was in this country.

I have been jumped cause I always held views that were contradictory to the "norm".

People don't like being challenged, they just want you to follow. If you don't follow you are obviously an enemy, therefor a target and fair game. That is kids, and just humans in general.

The kids of today would all suicide if they had to go through the things I have gone through in my kid years.

Oh no... your friends barred you from the facebook group, your HS social standing is falling apart, OH NO!!

Just realize after HS it gets better. Also, even with the worst of times, you can always look back and relish in those sweet good moments.

It does? When? I've been out of high school for twenty years this May, and I'm still waiting for it to get better!

I'm with Jor, the worst moments of my life were in College (also some of the best, it was four years of extremes).

In a town about 20 miles NE of Lawrence, the school district was sued because a kid was bullied so badly that he attempted suicide. Which started anti-bullying hysteria here. Zero-tolerance policies. No one sticks to them. There is a law in kansas that you can be ARRESTED for bullying. Insane, in my opinion

For me, the bullying stopped when I learned how to render a person completely incapable of motion in under 30 seconds.

This had other negative side-effects, though.

For me, the bullying stopped when people realized how freaking awesome I am.

On topic:
I agree. Kids these days are wusses, and at the slightest issue, "OMG, no one loves me etc, etc, etc, time to kill myself!"
